I did this on my 6".  Spent a little time with 9 micron on an
unchannelled lap.  Cleaned the lap (very thoroughly) and switched
to CeOx.  The mirror polished out very nicely and quickly, although
dropping the blank and cracking it before starting figuring didn't
help at all ;-(.  I found that making another lap was unnecessary.
