I also am building a 8" f6 and I want to know what size secondary to use.  I
have no idea what I will use it for precisely.  I want to be able to see the
planets well, but I'd also like to be able to see novas as well.

I plan to build my first scope as an unmotorized, simple dobsonian, so that
may limit my choices.  Does it?  What size ranges should I consider and what
performance should I expect from each size?
