ATM Figure, A Foucault Analysis Program




Dear ATMers:

With the extensive help and review of Nils Olof Carlin, Jim Burrows and Alan 
Adler, I have completed a new release of Figure and have constructed a web 
page for it.

The new version is Figure 3.4, so if you downloaded it previously, please 
upgrade to this new release.

Figure is an easy-to-use interactive DOS program that graphs the surface 
error, transverse error and spot diffraction pattern of your mirror.  It has 
all the standard measures of mirror performance, including RMS and P-V 
wavefront error and Strehl Ratio.  In addition, by letting you interactively 
change the target radius of curvature, you can develop figuring strategies 
which may have previously been overlooked.  The spot diffraction pattern at 
various focal positions can aid, I think, in analyzing star test results.
