Re: ATM - Polishing & Pitch Lap Questions
Hi
John,
It looks like you have the "hang" of
polishing techniques &
you're on the way to make a good one.
It looks like your lap is in good shape
[the partial pitch
squares are no problem as long as they don't crumble off
&
cause "sleeks"] SO, my 2 cents worth, Just brush your
lap
{with a brass wire brush] recharge & press.
To create a good sphere [and polish clear
to the edge] work
part of the time TOT. If you alternate MOT with TOT at 1/3
dia.
strokes most of the stroking errors will cancel out & you
will
arrive at a good sphere. Contrary to what looks like
common
sense, polishing TOT will not create TDE [it can actualy cure
it]
Hang in there &
good luck, Yours, Bob Allen
