ATM Figure - (yet another Foucault analysis program)
Dear Fellow Grinders:
For my own amusement and edification I wrote a DOS Foucault analysis program
called Figure32. It has a fairly nice user interface and some graphics. If
you would enjoy taking it for a test drive, please do the following:
Download the WINZIPed file from:
http://members.aol.com/aplanatic/fig.ZIP
Unzip the file into a new directory.
At the DOS prompt type figure32 to begin execution.
The program should be fairly easy to use without much explanation. It allows
the user to easily change from inches to millimeters, fixed to moving light
source, etc. It also supports any desired deformation constant ( 0 =
spherical, -1 = paraboloidal, etc.) There is one setup panel <F2>, one panel
for entering KE readings <F3>, and four analysis panels:
<F4> is a graph of the surface error in microns
<F5> is a graph of the transverse error normalized to the Airy Disk radius
<F6> is a graph of the diffraction pattern produced by the mirror
<F7> is a representation of the diffraction pattern as seen at the eyepiece.
In each of the above, one can numerically refocus the mirror to see the
effect of changing the focal position. This is especially handy when
developing a figuring strategy or when evaluating the performance of the
mirror in light of diffraction.
I have included two data files:
perfect.dat is a perfect 10" f/5 mirror, moving light source.
tde.dat is the above with a turned down edge.
To use these "canned" data files, just type in "perfect" or "tde" in the load
file box.
I have tested the program quite a bit for accuracy, but I would certainly
appreciate other opinions.
As always, comments and criticisms are welcomed.
Dave Rowe.
