Actually it's been a hideous amount of work. I found a piece of broken
glass that the circle of a no longer useful CD (slightly larger than 4.5")
would fit in inside of the broken edges. I used a scoring tool to score
lines tangent to the edges of the CD, lined the score up on a board,
and whacked it with a hammer. I've ground the high spots down with
a sharpening stone (actually I'm about 80% done with this). The breaking
was easy, and the breaks were clean, but grinding the high spots down
tedious.
I've never ground a mirror before and I've promised myself I could
splurge for a some decent blank if I have the "stay with it" to make
one out of scrap.
