Barrett,

I'm doing a 4.25" that is a bit thinner than 1/4" and have not had any
unusual problems yet. Figuring is always a pain for me, but that's what
it's about. (Are you there Frank?;) I'd probably use a thicker tool -
like plaster and tile. 

How did you get a clean circle? I've not found that to be as easy as you
make it sound.
