ATM Threads in Al box section?

Help!  I've made a 6 pt. flotation cell along the lines of
<http://www.starastronomy.org/TelescopeMaking/MirrorCell/>,
but I'm having a devil of a time getting threads of any sort
to take in the Al box section.  

Here's what I've tried so far:

1.  cementing t-nuts in with RTV.  miserable failure.
2.  cementing t-nuts in with 5 minute epoxy.  worse failure.
3.  Stanley Al threaded inserts.  These look swell, but the
    threads come loose from the housing.

With adhesives, the problem always seemed to be that the
chosen adhesive would adhere to either the Al or the zinc
of the t-nut, but not both.  

At this point I'd like to either a) find an insert that
works or b) find an adhesive that will effectively bind 
the t-nuts to the Al.  Any ideas?
