Hi Wil, this was slop within the Adaptall itself. I had three - two used
ones and one new one and they all had it. Take the lens in one hand and the
camera body in the other an wiggle / jiggle them about and the slop becomes
apparent. It's integral to the Adaptall piece itself.
It's true that there is sometimes also some slop in the native Nikon mount
system but this can be completely overcome by using tape to add padding
around the lens port on the camera body, wheras no means of eliminating the
Adaptall slop came readily to mind.
