[APML]: minolta problem

OK, 
First clear skies in months.
New LX-50  8 inch,
New guiding equipment,
New (old) CD's b/w the wedge and tripod,
Decent polar alignment [not that it matters for lunar pix]
Minolta Maxxum 601si locked in on the terminator...
...No response to the shutter button!!!!!

After playing around I discover that that camera will shoot if the original
lens is connected, AND it will shoot when the T-mount is connected, IF
NO FILM is in the camera.  But when I load film.... No Go!  

What's up fellow astropic-heads?  (I know I'll eventually need an
astropic-friendly camera, but I was trying to hold out on that part of the
investment 'til I got some practice with my fairly new minolta which I
purchased prior to my interest in astrophotography)
