[APML]: Back to Astrophotos

The Astro-Photography Mailing List
------------------------------------

I finished all the tests last night that I am likely to be able to run to
determine the proper balancing for my tricolor photos. The exposures by
moonlight were only 4 minutes +/- 1/2 f stop but that puts hypered Tech Pan
into the range for which I have test data run and published by others. All I
can say is that I have balanced the images to the test data I have available.
Balancing M31 to these tests produces an image that's in the range of what
most expect. You probably won't notice any real change in the nebulas because
the green and blue channels are very weak compard to red so even a big boost
in those channels only produces a small change. Those with good monitors in
a dimly lit room will see some interesting shading in the nebulas.

The new images are on my page along with a new B&W of B142 in IC1396.

B142 might become a tricolor someday, most likely next year.

Enjoy,
