[APML]: making a equatorial wedge...

The Astro-Photography Mailing List
------------------------------------

Hi all.. I am sick of trying to make azimuth adjustments to my poorly
designed celestron wedgepod (moving the whole tripod!!).. what I have been
thinking is that I could build a wood wedgepod, but attach my original
legs, latitude, and mounting plate (what the C8 base attaches to).. It
would incorporate a bearing, with a tightening screw for azimuth.. anyone
tried this, or what problems/instabilities will this introduce into an
already shaky system??.. Any web resources in this area?? I don't have the
money to get a GEM or a better designed tripod/wedge.. or to hire a
machinist.

any suggestions would be appreciated...

thanks...
