RE: [APML]: Art or Science

The Astro-Photography Mailing List
------------------------------------

Personaly I'm into atrophotography simply because I like the look. I
want to be able to produce pictures that, to me, look good. When I look
at my astrophotos I'm typically thinking about how to make them look
better (crop, frame, color balance, ect.) not about how the object
formed or how far away it is or in what direction is it moving in
relation to the sun. Although I do contiplate these things they are not
the priority. I think that is why, to me, its art. When I look at what
I think is a good astrophoto I experiance the same effect as when I look
at a good landscape or wildlife photo. Paintings and sculptures have
the same effect on me also.

If I was serious about science I think I would be doing all my imaging
with a CCD camera. Film takes to long to expose and develope.
