Hi:

Back in February 1990 I was flying from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires. The
man sitting next to me was Brian Skiff from the Lowell Observatory! He was
continuing on to Chile and was going to camp out at Las Campanas. He told
me that the astronomy in Chile was excellent.

I've heard that Chile is a nice place, the food is great, and it's not very
expensive. I've been wanting to go there for years. I have relatives in
Lima, Peru. Perhaps I could visit them, and then go down to Chile for
astronomy. Probably August (in their winter) would be best for deep sky
photography.
