Steve ... I consider it a bad hair day when I have to use a 2 sec. exposure.
I start to look for fogging on the guider's optical window, dewing on the
guide scope (although Jim Kendrick's anti-dew stuff is a BIG helper here),
and high thin clouds.

Long exposures may be okay for tracking with systems where someone is
imaging with a CCD, but I believe Mr. Wallis would be hurling chunks if
someone told him to use long guider exposures while he shot with Tech Pan. 

But you know, the best thing to do is TRY IT. Maybe we're full of faeces.
Inquiring minds want to know.
