It rained here (Aurora, IL) on July 17, giving us 16.91 inches of rain
in less than 24 hours; many areas of town were flooded.
We had regular cloudiness, but no appreciable rain, until about 6 hours
before the eclipse 1st contact. My rainguage indicated we got about
3 inches of rain between noon, before the eclipse, and sunrise after
the eclipse. Local TV news showed spot broadcasts of the eclipse as
seen from Miami, FL. 8-{(>
