Regarding films which are 400 or 800 but labeled as 1600 or 3200, etc...

I thought these films were labeled that way because they are *designed* to 
be pushed during the developing process (or automatic exposures based on
encoding won't turn out right).  

As such I thought these did not come with an extra "push fee" like film 
that does not "expect" to be pushed.

This would also explain the "free push" you got with your film.  Maybe
ask the store what their policy is on these films.  It probably varies
from one processor to the next...
