I forgot to mention it, but I recently purchased the Fargo PhotoFun! dye-sublimation
printer. This thing is
kind of expensive (~ $500) for the size prints it makes (4x6), but now I can go from
negative to a near
photographic quality print (and I mean really near photographic quality - not like an
inkjet or laser printer)
all from the computer, completely bypassing the printing part of classic darkroom work.
It's great! But be
forewarned. When I ordered mine, the salesperson never told me that as it comes, it
doesn't contain the
printer ribbon!! Yoy have to order these directly from Fargo. For $36 you get the
ribbon and the special
paper that the printer uses, enough to do 36 exposures. I've got a gallery of prints of
the images on my
homepage hanging on my dining room wall. Kinda neat to see them up there all at once.
