I do most of my astrophotography in Anglesey, North Wales, and dew is a
really big problem. Some nights, the lens can be completely covered in
around 5 minutes! I have a 10 minute exposure of star trails, where each
star looks like a mini comet, with a bright area that fades to nothing after
a few cm.
After that, I made a cone out of stiff cardboard, and lined it with dark
absorbent paper. This is usually enough to keep the lens clear for a couple
of hours.
