I hope mine images don't look like that.:-)
I think it all boils down to the tools we use and how we use them.
Each tool has their strengths and weaknesses. The more tools you
use the more additive or subtractive the effect. I generally use
PixInsight for flat-fielding and neutralizing the background. For
everything else, I use Photoshop. What's more important and
probably the main cause of the "strange look" is the "artist" in us
all. Some of us like to get as close to the "real look" as possible
while others strive for a more artistic interpretation. It's all
fun no matter which route you take.
I guess the jest of all this is PixInsight is a wonderful tool.
It's perfect for shaping your canvas into any form you desire.
