I shoot this one every year and this is the first
time I have applied my tricolor emission line filter set to it.
This was also the first color image taken with the
FLI CM2-1 camera. The sensor is a bit small both in area and in resolution at 1
megapixel, but so far it is performing well.
I intentionally took what I deem to be a rather
minimal set of exposures and used the AP180EDT f/9 with no focal reducer to see
just how fast this camera is. I want to try it on the 18" cassegrain next
because I think it will really be fast with that 90% QE across the visible
spectrum and the largish 13.5 x 13.5 micron pixels.
For NGC7380 I was able to complete all the data in
one night instead of the usual three that it usually takes. I will probably go
back and gather more data later but this is what I have now. Total exposure time
was 4 hours and 40 minutes.
Halpha only: 80 minutes: 4 x 20
minutes:
[SII], Ha and [OIII] ([SII] = Red = 2 hours
= 6 x 20 minutes, Ha = Green =80 minutes = 4 x 20 minutes,
[OIII] = Blue = 80 minutes = 4 x 20 minutes)
