Re: [APML] Dobsonian Question
Hi John
Have a look at the answers given to Adam Krause in the last week
regarding flexure in a newtonian telescope.
The Dobs that Orion and Celestron offer will require rebuilding to use
them for any photograpy other than lunar. The sonotube will sag with
humidity.
I addition you will probably need to buy or build another mirror cell
and diagonal holder, also the focuser will most likely not reach focus
with a camera other than a webcam.
That being said, if you are willing to do the work and can fabricate
some or all of the new pieces then it is do-able. Start off with the dob
and while using it for visual work start collecting the necessary bits
to upgrade the scope.
The mount will be the expensive part.
