Jim, I admit that when I first started learning PI LE I was a bit lost.  Like you, all I had known about processing (and that's not much) was using PS.  Just start with an image and go through the Histogram and Curves Tutorial.  Now there's even a video that will take you through it.  I found the video to be very helpful as you can see it done step-by-step.  Just get into the program and you will find it is much better than PS for astrophotography.  Just get over the different the different interface and play with it.  Take an image and go through the tutorials starting with Histograms and ending with SGBNR.  See what comes out.  I usually do a final little tweak in PS, but 90% of my processing is now done in PI LE.

OK here's where I show my ignorance.  Yes, I did check them out, my problem seems to be a Photoshop mindset as to how an image is processed.  PixInsight seems to have a totally different methodology which has so far eluded me.  How have you made this transition?
