Hi John,
I'm sure others in the group can give you better
advice, but here's mine...
1. On the widefield star shots, get rid of the flash. You
should be able to expose for 20-30 seconds
on a tripod without any trailing, longer
of course if you are doing piggyback.
2. The moon shot is overexposed. Try bracketing your
exposures. With a digital you should be able
to get the right exposure nailed down pretty
quick.
You didn't say how long you were exposing for but keep a log so you can
duplicate/improve your exposures on various objects and in different conditions,
as well as different moon phases. Hope this helps a little.
