Great? Nah.. Pretty good? Probably, but thank you.

I know what you mean. Everytime I looked at them, I kept trying to
darken up the background. It got to the point where the histogram was
so cramped, and clipped too, that I did not feel comfortable doing
anything else to the images. The slightest move caused major changes.
Pretty much all I do is with levels and curves, more levels than curves
nowadays. Maybe I should reverse that. 

It would help to understand some of the technical stuff that happens
when one is used as opposed to the other. Another problem is that there
is too much sunlight here. I can see best after sundown, but have been
doing most of the processing during the day when I have peace and
quiet.
