[APML] AstroImage 2004
HI Robert,
Thanks for the update on AstroImage 2004. On two of your points:
1) Color profiles etc: "It's still voodoo to me."
and
2) "...image color balance is critical ..."
Shutterbug magazine published a 'band-aid' fix a few years ago (for at home
printing).
Specifically:
Make the best print possible of a good shot with a good range of color and
brightness.
Adjust your monitor so that it matches the print.
I have found this works pretty well and so have been able to dodge some of
the voodoo for the time being. In actual practice I do the following: For
regular work, eg. word processing, email, etc, I adjust my monitor using
the controls on the monitor. Then for print matching, I go into the video
card driver software and adjust the monitor in software so that screen and
print match and save this profile. Then for regular use my computer wakes
up in its regular use default profile and for photo printing I load the
print matching profile.
I'm new to this list. If this is old news to you old timers, sorry.
clear skies,
Fritz Kleinhans
