Re: [APML] Adding contrast to prints

Brian,

I made traditional darkroom astrophoto B&W prints for years but no
longer. The digital darkroom gives me much better control and for the
few prints I really want I send a CD to Autumn Color. I don't _need_ as
many prints as I used to. The magazines accept digital images and most
of my image sharing is via the internet now. For the occasional print I
want to frame for the wall it is cheaper overall to send it out for
printing. I know what the print is going to look like without having to
go through all that dodging, burning, spot burning, and flash down and
who knows how many sheets of paper. I can even cold tone the prints in
PS like I used to do with selenium toner. For cheapo pass around prints
I can get an amazingly good print from my Epson photo printer.

Except for old times sake and the thrill of doing it yourself (which
wears off when the drudgery sets in), I don't know what the point of a
home darkroom is anymore.

Just my opinion,

Chuck
