RE: Re: [APML] ST-4 question-UPDATE WITH NO RESOLUTION

  Hi Alan

There is one thing I have not seen mentioned yet. A few years ago I
was having a problem with the brightness levels on my ST-4 requiring
higher levels to detect a guide star, until it reached the point that
the full moon would only show a value of 80. The start up value went
from 11 to 14. I called SBIG and they told me the value reading should
be between 10 and 12. I was able to increase the CCD sensitivity by
adjusting the variable resistor on the CCD head (open hole next to
cable on back of CCD head) unit the start up reading was back down to
12. This fixed my sensitivity problem.

I know my problems were more severe and you said your value reading
was at 12 but its something to ask SBIG about.

Joe Schaefer.
