An O-ring and a desiccant ring are not the same thing. An O-ring is a rubber-like ring that looks something like a tiny tire inner tube. It's used as a seal. A desiccant ring is flat and made out of, well, I would imagine some sort of desiccant material. It's job is to absorb moisture from the air. The purpose of the O-ring is to prevent outside air from infiltrating which would exhaust the desiccant very quickly. While the O-ring is likely available from some other supplier (and can be custom made fairly easily), apparently the desiccant ring is something made only by SBIG.
