Thanks for the replies. I think I'll take it with me, just to be safe.
Since I am flying there I was trying to limit my gear. I think I'll just
ship a few things prior to my arrival.

You are right Jon, just as soon as I decide not to take it, I'll need
it. Not sure how many runs to the Wal-mart in Chiefland, FL I've made
when traveling there.

I haven't been to that part of NM yet, but if it's anything like the
rest of the mountain west, it can be anything from bone dry single-digit
humidity to dripping-wet saturated atmosphere, all in one day.  And,
after many long-range adventures with my gear I can tell you that there
is no such thing as having brought too much of your equipment.  The one
thing you leave home will always be the one thing you wish you had
brought.
