I checked the website above thinking it was just a commercial site, but the
fellow has some nifty how-to's on how to make your own heating strips.  I
made about a dozen of them for my meteor cameras, etc. several years ago and
had no idea what to use.  It was guesswork.  These websites are specific.
Check http://www.gbronline.com/ronkeating/heaters/heaters.html and
http://www.gbronline.com/ronkeating/heaters/nichrome.html for some good
instructions and materials list for making these puppies.  He did a great
job with the directions.  Even an electronics morron like me can work with
this.
