[APML] Mars mania and Lunar lunacy - my latest astrophoto site update
Fellow APMLers,
I've finally got around to putting an update of my web site together.
It's mostly Mars and the moon taken with my iBot and ToUcam through
my 8" classic LX200 and ETX125.
I also got a few wide-field astrophotos taken with my Hasselblad in
this update. I'm getting better at processing the images, but I still have
some ways to go.
I am happy with the removal of the horizon glow in my Mars, Uranus, and
Neptune photo:

Though it did leave an interesting artifact on the trees in the corner of the shot.
I masked most of it out, though.
The link to the newest images is

and the home page of the site is at

Since I am still learning the ropes... (you gotta love flexure, or rather
finding out what caused it) any constructive criticism is appreciated.
I believe that many of my background skies are a bit too red (or is that
magenta), but when I try to correct that, I usually end up with many
green stars.
This morning I saw a beautiful grouping of Jupiter, the waning crescent
moon and Mercury just before dawn... I pulled an all-nighter updating my
sight and viewing Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and the moon. I will need to
check my images of the moon to see if I caught Mare Orientalis, since
the libration was still supposed to be favorable. I was clouded or
fogged out on my previous three nights before the moon rose, so I wasn't
able to try to catch this elusive feature at a more reasonable
elevation.
