[APML] OT: A friend's infected computer and Bargain.exe

I have a friend whose computer is plagued with problems and she cannot
shut it down. The computer is running XP and has Zone Alarm Pro and
Norton AntiVirus both of which are up to date. Connecting to the
internet is difficult but she has managed to get it to talk to the
internet intermittently. She has a huge number of windows pop-ups and
they seem associated with this program bargain.exe and when she tries to
uninstall it or delete it she gets a message "access denied". Both
browsers (Netscape and IE) are affected so it isn't the browser as far
as I can tell. She is running a cable modem connection.

Questions:
1. Is there anyone with an immediately good theory of what to do to get
this program out?
2. Is there something people know about removing the blaster worm or
other virus that isn't accomplished by Norton and the XP patches from MS?

Sorry for the OT post but this group is the only group of computer savvy
people I know.

Thanks!
Stuart
