[APML] Nikon Lens 300m/F4.5 and Contax Camera plus 80mmF/2.0

Hello,

I have a chance to pick up a like new, barely used Nikor Len  300mm 
f/4.5   (not ED  :-)  )
I was wondering of this lens is good "wide open" at 4.5?  What would be 
a fair price for it?

As I was parusing the web I came across the Contax 645 camera with a 
plnar 80mm F/2 lens.

The lens looks real 'hot'  an MTF of  4, which I think is max.

This would seem to be a near ideal wide field astro camera, correct.  Is 
it all as good as the data seems indicate?

Also what is a planar lens? 
The lens datasheet  says RangeFinder, I don't get that?
