I go by the rule that it takes 3 or 4 dots to adequately depict a pixel color. So printing at 1440 could depict 300 to 400 pixels
per inch. Original scan pixels not extrapolated from resizing or something. So for a 8 inch wide print you might need a 3200 pixel
wide image. This is why your average digital camera really only produces good prints up to maybe 5X7. In Photoshop you would
resize your image with the "resample" box not checked until you get to 300-400ppi. You could other ppi's and see how they look for
your particular situation but 350 is a good place to start.
