Yes, they were. Quite unlike my trip over Labor Day weekend. We
had clouds, fog, or rain each night. New Mexico Skies is an
astronomer's resort. Check them out at
www.nmskies.com. They have some NICE
equipment.
BTW, this was a straight scan with just a little sharpening. No color
modifications at all.

With ISO 400 film using a 50 mm Minolta lens at f1.8 I got deeper
saturation of color at 5 minutes, but not enough red around some of the
nebulas. You are going about 3 f-stops higher than mine, so you should
probably have gone at least 20 minutes per shot for better color
saturation. So, if possible use a wider open f-stop or expose
longer.
However, if light pollution is a problem, which it looks like it may be
from your 28mm shot, then longer exposures will wipe out anything.
Now I know where I can post my images since I do not have a website
yet. Check this one for a shot with Sagitarius and north in it.
