The scratches(lines) are on the emulsion side of the film and run
perpendicular to the length of the film strip.
I attempted another shot last night, but clouds rolled in and cut it
short. I developed anyway and didn't see the lines, but the film was
very dark, to dark even to scan.

And, to be completely sure I understand the direction, are you saying

they are perpendicular to the length of the film roll?
