In my experience, that's not quite correct. I have
two 2-inch Newtonian Easyguiders, one configured
for Olympus, the other for Pentax. When I bought
the second one (for a song at a star-party swap
meet) it was configured for Canon cameras. As I
did not want to send it to Lumicon to modify it
for my Pentax I took a good look at it. The
attachment on the camera end of the OAG is simply
a T-ring with the center part removed (the part
with the T-thread). That's the extent of the
modification! The three small set screws that
normally hold the center part in now clamp it
to the OAG body. Changing my OAG for Pentax
required only that I remove the old centerless
Canon ring and install the equivalent part from
a Pentax T-ring.
As the "modification" to the T-ring is trivially
easy, I would tend to say it is still a garden-
variety T-ring, or half of one at any rate! It's
a good thing that the center part is removed,
actually, because that part nortmally does
vignette the film.
