I see your Photosmart works just like mine; it peppers the image with row
after row of phantom green pixels.  You can get rid of them, but you better
hope there is not green in the image that you have to keep as well.  I have
never really had a big complaint about how the HP treats stars, but the
stray green pixels kill this device as being a serious scanner.  But when it
was introduced, it was an affordable option that allowed many to get into
digital image processing who otherwise could not afford to.  But today,
there are other better porforming affordable options available.
