I have seen more pronounced ones made by an HP Photosmart film scanner.. it
think its due to the mirrors used inside the scanner.. I have an example on
my web site:

I would find out if this is a common problem (an inherent design flaw,
unfixable) or just needs a trip to the factory. Perhaps is just tobacco
smoke residue on the lenses/mirrors.
Do you know if the Dimage uses lenses or mirrors?, my Acer does not.
