[APML] Photos from the last dark period
After some recent computer problems, that finally ended with me getting a
new one ;o) , I've been able to scan and process some images taken earlier
this month, on the weekend of that great aurora display.
First, the aurora itself :

I was in Rangeley, Maine that weekend on a dark sky trip with my local astro
club. We did a LOT of observing the Friday night before the aurora, as we
had a group of only about a dozen people and 15, 18, 20 and 36" Dobsonians!
I still managed to get a couple of shots in with my TV85 though.
The nebulosity around Gamma Cygni:

And the Cocoon Nebula:

Here's a link to a wider view of the Cocoon shot that includes the open
cluster NGC7209:

As some of you may know, I now usually place a string mask over the
objective to make diffraction spikes on the brighter stars in my TV85 shots.
Those of you that don't like the effect will be happy to know I forgot to
use it on the Gamma Cygni shot. This time <g>.
