Re: [APML] STV Mounting Question
Thanks Kent.
I generally try to avoid using rings.
In my existing configuration I drilled and tapped a #6 screw hole into the
STV mounting
base next to the existing 1/4-20 bolt hole to preclude any twisting of the
head. Then I
removed the 80 mm rings from an Orion dovetail finder bracket and bolted
the STV to
that. The whole thing is boresighted to the main scope, and can be slipped
on and off
in seconds.
Catch is--I keep getting trailed images. I absolutely cannot feel the least
play in the
system, but figure adding a ring to the lens should eliminate that as a
possible
source of flexure.
Guess I'll be making aluminum chips instead of observing this weekend!!
Thanks again Kent and Jim---Steve
