Did you use only a single 1/4-20 bolt in the ring and on the STV?

position to boresight it with your main scope?

Steve:
I thought I'd jump too.
After seeing Jim's setup with a 200mm lens on the STV, I decided to try
something similiar. I already had a Nikon 180mm 2.8 ED (manual focus) lens,
so I acquired the necessary Nikon to STV adapter to mount the lens to the
STV. I removed the mounting block from the STV. I use two rings, just like a
regular guidescope, but I use a (already had) 125mm ring for the STV body and
a 90mm ring for the front of the 180.
It just so happens that the center of the 125mm ring is also the center of
the 90mm ring.
With arrangement, you adjust the rings to 'boresite' or acquire guidestars
just like a conventional guidescope.
