Well, not really, it does suit it's purposes and
I've learned alot with it in the last few months....
...But, I just got my first roll of E200 developed
and WOW! what a difference. Hey, you guys didn't tell me I would start to
make out the North America Nebula on a 50mm @f2 exposed for just 5
minutes! I'm even seeing the Veil at 10 minutes! I've got a couple
of 60 minute manual guided M27's (2000mm @f10) that look promising as
well...nice round and focused stars.
Problem is I don't have any way to share this with
the list at the moment. Wifey has agreed to let me order a film scanner as
a two month early b-day present (she's a keeper!). I'm thinking 'bout the
Minolta Dimage Dual Scan II. Scans @2820 dpi and looks like it has a
pretty good prescan interface and at around $300 it fits the budget.
Anyone have any problems scanning astophotos with this one? Doesn't look
like I can get this anywhere local so I may have to mail order. In the
meantime I may look at having one of the local labs scan in some of my shots for
me. They're charging $1 per slide...is this reasonable?
Forgive the newbie excitement, but these shot have
exceeded my expectations. But I guess after working with TMAX for so long
I didn't have very high expectations to begin with. Can't wait to see what
these shot look like after scanning/processing. In general, do these
scanners pick up everything? I would imagine at 2820 dpi you're scanning
grain, but I've never done this first hand.
