Hi Roland;
         Glad you mentioned that - I thought I was going a bit wonkers 
myself (well I am, but that's beside the point).  Not only are they cutting 
back on prisms, but you see a whole new range of waterproof binoculars, but 
*not* nitrogen purged & fogproof.  Agian, another little corner cut.
         but yes, I see it, especailly when I compare the quality of some 
of my older binoculars to newer one.
