Dear Jerry and all the guys who gave their two
cents worth.
This bit of freeware saved the day. It opened the
files no worries and then I saved it as a TIF and then opened it in PS
5.0LE.
It may well be time to upgrade my PS.
It was a bit of a mystery. I got them to do a
whole new scan when I was there. They use a drum scanner. The results have been
worth the effort. The contrast range is so much higher. I will post some
soon.
They stayed out of their PS and went straight to
CD for me but it still wouldn't open in my PS. They had a PC in the shop and it
opened OK there with PS 6.0.
In all, I am out of the woods albeit by using
additional software but it is only a small step to have to take.
