Re: [APML] Framing shots - was New North American Nebula

I frame my shots using my guidescope and Megastar.. I preplan and print
charts that show the exact framing I want.. I align the guidescope and
camera with a bright star and its simple to perfectly frame even invisible
objects. Its trivially easy to do, focusing at f4 is a different matter
(g).

Even complex mosaics are easy using preprinted charts.

I find Megastar to have the most accurate nebula outlines of several
charting programs that I use (Skymap, The Sky).. it has never failed me.
Its also simple to switch the moveable frames between the different focal
lengts that you plan to use.

I know its art and our personal preferences, but arbitrary frame
orientations are mildly irritating to me. I prefer vanilla ice cream and
North-South framing (g).
