Hi Jon,

It's a two day drive from North Carolina to the wonderful locations you 
described so I'll have to try capturing a near-new moon image from some 
of the smaller mountains in the east.  The next good opportunity is 
before dawn on October 5th (23 hours before new moon).

BTW, I noticed on your web site that you are originally from Detroit and 
attended the University of Michigan in the Aerospace program in the 
early eighties.  I also grew up in Detroit (6 Mile & Telegraph) and 
attended UM from 78 to 84 in the Environmental Engineering program.
