I haven't had time to peruse all of your shots closely yet, but my
initial reaction is that they're sweet. Good to see you got some green
going at your latitude - of the two good aurorae here at 40N in the last
16 months, only one had any really discernable green.
You should know that after an entire summer of totally dry, hot,
smoke-filled skies, we finally got a monsoon flow going here in CO.
When did it happen...of course, just in time for the Sept. new moon,
usually the best time of the year around these parts (and many others).
So, no aurora for me, and no astrophotography either - it's actually
been raining on and off for the better part of two days. People are
dancing in the streets!
Good shooting, Chris! BTW, I actually had good luck with E200 the last
time we had an aurora here, but the composition from my backyard was
less than spectacular and I never posted the shots. Greens and reds
showed up nicely, but you've got to keep the lens open pretty wide at
this speed (f/4, for instance). Too bad I can't ever get one of these
when I'm deep in the mountains.
Sincerely,
Jon Kolb
