[APML] First film results from Namibia
Hi all,
after posting a lot of CCD images the past weeks here we´ve finished the
processing of the first four film images we made with totally different
optics during our Namibia trip. All I can say is that I´m missing some bits
from CCD photography to bring out the faint stuff, the grain is quickly
visible with film <g>.
One very critical image was M20. It was made between clouds and both of the
single exposures are made for 90 minutes instead of the 120 minutes we
wanted to go. The slide was very dark so there is no chance to show the
faintest parts of this nebula. I scratched the maximum information out of
the slides so there is a bit of grain visible even if we used SGBNR for
grain reduction.
The other real hard target for us was a fisheye view of the milkyway. A lot
of gradients (vignetting, foggy horizon, airglow) were visible and even if
we worked hard on it, they are not totally gone. But hey, nothing is perfect
:-))
The other two images are parts of the milky way, the IC2948 area was shot
with the Pentax SDUF 4"f/4, the Centaurus/Carina area was exposed with a
90mm Pentax 67 lens.
